Future Radio is a music, speech and arts focused community radio station with over 160 volunteers and staff, broadcasting to 140,000 people around the Norwich area, and nationwide via futureradio.co.uk. With an eclectic daytime playlist that showcases new music from emerging artists, Future Radio also has over 40 specialist music shows. Playing a huge range of genres including house, dubstep, indie rock, folk, drum & bass, film & TV soundtracks, reggae, Motown, and electronica. Morrissey and Blur’s Alex James are said to be fans of The Shellac Shake - hosted by DJ78 and with a playlist comprised entirely of vintage gramophone 78s. Future Radio was one of the first community radio stations to launch in East Anglia, and it produces more live content and commissions more original programming than any other radio station in the region. Since launching, Future Radio has trained DJs such as Greg James and other volunteers working at the station have gone on to work and produce programmes. Prominent guests have also featured, including David Cameron, Ed Milliband and Alex James (Blur).
